Big Bad Wolf is one of the most anticipated events for readers in the Philippines. The book sale travels around the country to offer up to two million books at discounts of up to 95% off. Traditionally, the fair visits Metro Manila once a year before moving to cities in Visayas and Mindanao. This year, Big Bad Wolf made multiple stops within the capital.
Our question now is, why do they have so many sales in Metro Manila?
The answer may be found in their new slogan: Mission 1 New Million Readers. This mission hopes to ignite a passion for reading to drive educational growth and personal development nationwide.
Carol Chuaying, Big Bad Wolf Philippines’ managing partner, told WheninManila.com, “Whenever we ask people, ‘Have you been to Big Bad Wolf?’, many answer, ‘I’ve always wanted to go, but it’s too far away.’ Because of our heart and mission, we want to be closer to the people. We want to make that difference by bringing books closer to them.”
Jacqueline Ng, Big Bad Wolf’s co-founder, echoes this sentiment. She said, “To gain one million readers, we need to go to them. Our usual customers come to us, but if your mission is to reach one million new readers, you must go to them.”
The fair held a sale in Parañaque in May, followed by another in Makati, Quezon City, and Alabang.
Big Bad Wolf, however, is strategic about its stops. Chuaying said, “We don’t want to overwhelm people, or else there won’t be that specialty or novelty.”
She added, “We want people to take advantage of our presence because Big Bad Wolf is unpredictable. We don’t know when we’ll be back. So when we’re here, please take the opportunity to come and don’t wait for the next one because we don’t know when it’s coming.“

Chuaying is correct about the sale being unpredictable. After announcing that the Alabang stop would be their last in the capital before moving to Bacolod, Big Bad Wolf revealed they will have another sale at Robinsons Manila from September 18 to 23, 2024. The catch? All books will be priced at P99.
On social media, Big Bad Wolf said, “I just did something absolutely insane, and trust me, it’s a one-time thing! I’m never doing this again. This is NOT your ordinary Big Bad Wolf book sale. Oh no—this is BIGGER, CRAZIER, and the kind of sale that’ll leave you gasping!”
At this rate, Big Bad Wolf will surely achieve, and even exceed, its mission of one million new readers.
