In case you missed it, the well-loved 90s teen drama Tabing Ilog is being revived as a stage musical this 2020 and it’s finally been revealed who will be working on it to bring it to life.

According to a report on ABS-CBN News, the Tabing Ilog Musical will be directed by actor-director Topper Fabregas. Joining him are actor-composer Vincent de Jesus who will also serve as the musical director, director-writer Jade Castro who wrote the book for the musical, and choreographer JM Cabling.
“‘Tabing Ilog’ is such a beloved show and now it gets to take on new life on the stage. This show is also ABS-CBN’s first theatrical venture. Personally, the pressure is on but I am so excited to be collaborating with Vince, Jade, and the rest of the artistic team. This is a dream,” Fabregas said.
Also included in the creative team are Riza Romero (production design), Meliton Roxas (lighting design) and Glendfford Malimban (sound design).
According to Fabregas, they are targeting a running time of less than two hours with 12 to 15 songs, which includes the original theme song sung by Barbie Almalbis.

Tabing Ilog aired from March 1999 to October 2003 on ABS-CBN. It stared Paula Peralejo, John Lloyd Cruz, Patrick Garcia, Jodi Sta. Maria, Paolo Contis, Desiree del Valle, Baron Geisler, and Kaye Abad who played best friends who use a riverbank as their secret hideaway to confide in each other about their problems navigating teenhood. It gained a cult following among the youth and garnered a PMPC Star Award for Television’s Best Youth-Oriented Program.
