Big news for theater fans! Hamilton, the award-winning Broadway musical that changed the game, is making its way to the big screen this September.

The exciting update came straight from Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda during his guest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“[August 6] is the 10th anniversary of Hamilton, and we’ve been celebrating all year. But we have one more way to celebrate,” he shared.
Lin-Manuel revealed that the original Broadway cast was filmed performing Hamilton back in 2016, with the intention of releasing it in theaters. The pandemic, however, shifted his plans, leading to its release on Disney+ instead.
Now, nearly a decade later, the plan is finally happening. On September 5, 2025, fans in the U.S. and Puerto Rico will get to see Hamilton in cinemas, complete with an exclusive cast reunion that’s not available anywhere else.

This reunion follows the cast’s special performance at the 78th Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall, which had fans reliving all the feels.
For the uninitiated, Hamilton tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through a groundbreaking blend of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and Broadway. As Disney+ perfectly sums it up, it’s “the story of America then, told by America now.”

While there’s no word yet on a Philippine theatrical release (we’re crossing our fingers!), fans here can still catch Hamilton on Disney+ or maybe even plan that U.S. trip if you’re really not throwing away your shot.
