US-based Filipino content creator Mama Lulu is drawing attention online after speaking about her views on loving and accepting her LGBTQIA+ children while remaining firm in her religious faith.
The 68-year-old mom has five children, including her lesbian daughter Donnabelle, whom she fondly calls “Lesbean,” and her gay son Oliver or “Olly,” who frequently appears in their family’s social media content.

Her recent remarks came amid ongoing online conversations about religion, gender identity, and sexuality. In a Facebook video uploaded on February 17, 2026, Olly asked his mother how she was able to fully embrace her gay son and lesbian daughter despite religious beliefs that some people perceive as conflicting with LGBTQIA+ identities.
For Mama Lulu, the answer begins with something personal.
“First of all, ang relationship ko sa Diyos ay very personal.
She explained that her understanding of people is shaped by her own lived experiences. According to her, the LGBTQIA+ individuals she has met have shown kindness and sincerity.
Nabubuhay sila sa kung saan sila masaya at kung saan sila nagmamahal,” she said, later adding, “To make it short, they are just human beings.”
Mama Lulu also addressed critics who argue that accepting LGBTQIA+ individuals contradicts religious teachings. She expressed that comparisons between LGBTQIA+ people and those who intentionally harm others do not reflect the core of the issue.
Nagmamahal lang sila ng kapwa nila,” she said.
“Ako rin naman, ikaw, nagmamahal ka rin. Tao lang tayong lahat. Wala silang sinasaktang kahit sino,” she added.

She also spoke about transgender individuals who are often questioned for changing their appearance, names, or pronouns, pointing out that change is something many people experience in different ways.
“Lahat naman tayo may gusto sa buhay. Lahat tayo nagbabago. Plastic surgery, pagma-make up, pagkukulay ng buhok… lahat ng tao gumagawa niyan mapa-babae o lalaki,” she said.
“Binabago pa raw ang pangalan, binabago pa ang pronouns. Eh ano ngayon?
While acknowledging that not everyone would share her perspective, Mama Lulu said she remains grounded in what she hopes to leave behind.
“Because God is love.

She ended her message on a personal note, sharing how her children shaped her confidence and strength. She said that without her gay son, she would not have learned how to dress well and carry herself confidently in public, and without her lesbian daughter, she would not have developed the courage she now has today.
Many netizens responded positively to her statements, with some saying they resonated with her message. In the comments section, Olly also defended his mother, writing, “She’s a parent, walang condition ang pagmamahal niya.”
Mama Lulu continues to share candid and humorous family moments online. Earlier this year, she expressed excitement after securing tickets to BTS’s upcoming world tour. She also documented her surprise trip to the Philippines in October 2025—her first visit in 18 years—gifted by her children.
