Gigi De Lana and her bandmates sustained minor injuries after getting into a car accident on their way to the music and arts festival in Ilocos Norte, “Himala Sa Buhangin,” on May 14, Sunday.
The band was coming from Baler where they had performed in the “Sulong Aurora Summer Fest” on May 13. In pictures shared on Gigi’s Facebook page, the van they were riding seemingly smacked into something in front of it, damaging the bumper and the hood. Fortunately, no one from her band and the crew members they were with were severely hurt by the incident.

The band also received medical clearance at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center Hospital.
“Fortunately, no one else was involved in the accident, and all issues have been resolved. The band and crew have received medical clearance from the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center Hospital, and they will continue their journey to tonight’s show,” the band’s statement read. “We express our gratitude to the LGU of San Fernando La Union, the LUPPO, and Mr. Erickson Dinglasan for their assistance during this unexpected incident.”
Gigi and her band, The Gigi Vibes, were able to make it to Himala Sa Buhangin in Ilocos Norte but were unable to finish their set after Gigi fainted onstage. It can be noted that Gigi was already wearing an arm brace and seemed “tired.” The band eventually announced that they would be canceling their show in Nueva Ecija.

“Hindi man namin natapos ang tugtugan, naramdaman namin ang inyong mainit na pagtanggap sa aming banda. Mga taga-Ilocos Norte, mahal namin kayong lahat!” the band’s new statement read.
“Ka-Sikanflor, Giginatics sa Talavera Nueva Ecija: Excited sana kami sa kuwentuhan, kulitan, at kantahan mamayang gabi. Sadly, we need to cancel tonight’s gig. We hope you understand we need to prioritize Gigi, Oyus, Jon, and our team members’ recovery after yesterday’s unfortunate incident. Babawi po kami and we promise to deliver a show that’s worth the wait,” they added.
