Gerald Anderson Saddened by ‘Overblown’ Reactions to Breakup with Bea Alonzo

Gerald Anderson expressed sadness over how the entire nation reacted to his breakup with Bea Alonzo which many refer to as the biggest showbiz controversy of 2019.

Speaking to Wilson Lee Flores for his column on The Philippine Star, Gerald admitted that his love life was the “worst crisis” in his life but lamented over how “overblown” it all was.

“It was overblown, nakakalungkot (it’s sad), because there are many bigger and real issues in the country kaysa sa love life ko (rather than my love life),” he shared.

“I think there are many other real, serious problems kaysa sa breakup namin, nakakalungkot (instead of our breakup, it’s saddening). The Philippines has suffered from typhoons, earthquakes, food problems, etc., hopefully their attention can focus on those issues,” he continued.

When asked how he coped during the height of the controversy, Gerald said that he relied on having an active lifestyle and the support of his close friends.

“Find something positive to do for your energies, because after a breakup, marami tayong kinikimkim (we have a lot of pent-up feelings). In my case, I got more involved in sports, particularly basketball,” he said.

“Throughout this period, I had many realizations and I gained strength from true friends who texted and people who cared. Their support meant a lot,” he added.

He did not, however, confirm nor deny the allegation that he ghosted Bea instead of ending their relationship properly.
