Gerald Anderson found himself involved in so much controversy in the second half of 2019 after he broke up with his longtime girlfriend Bea Alonzo. Since then, he’s been the subject of jokes and criticism of many Filipino netizens who blame him for being in the wrong in the breakup.
But he never let it get to him. In the months that followed, Gerald focused on his work, his training as a Private Army Reservist, and his advocacies that led him to become the new Philippine Youth Ambassador of Goodwill.

As a new year starts, Gerald couldn’t help but say the following words about 2019:
“2019!! Whew!! You kicked my A$$ but you showed me who the real ones are. So much negativity… but I will never be consumed by it. I will always see the best in people.”
“2019 thank you but I’m leaving you behind. [I’m well-equipped] for 2020,” he continued.
He also said a short prayer for the coming year. “Dear God, if I’m wrong, correct me. If I’m lost, guide me. If I start to give up, keep me going,” he said before greeting everyone a Happy New Year. “Wishing everyone peace and success. Always be kind,” he added.
