The Google Developer Student Clubs PLM is set to host its first biggest event entitled Ready-Set-Grow: Fasten your skills and get ready for take-off, from the 22nd to 26th of November 2021, 1:00 to 5:00 pm via Zoom and Facebook/Youtube Livestream.
In celebration of this year’s National Career Development month, GDSC PLM sought to provide an awareness campaign that will encourage career development for both students and professionals through the said event. It will be a week-long series of career and profile-building filled with webinars and workshops that would help them gear up towards their journey in the professional world.
With the challenge to increase opportunities even in a virtual learning setup, GDSC PLM Chief Executive Officer Mr. Neil Christian Riego made sure to use technology to its great advantage. “Five months ago, the past GDSC PLM Lead Juan Miguel Mendoza had an idea to promote career development to our fellow students in the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. As his successor today, I see this as the ultimate stepping-stone in encouraging students to build their career profiles. Also, this would be a great opportunity for them to seize more job and career opportunities. Over the months, we realized that we are not the only university or individuals who need this kind of event, thus, we made sure to make it a nationwide career development event even if online.” he added.
In addition to this, the much-awaited event will be separated into three parts: Ready, in defying self-doubt while focusing more on improving innate skills for the chosen vocation; Set, the standards in developing career profiles and increasing networks for more job opportunities and; Grow, to become the forefront of the industry by putting one’s self into work experiences such as internships and job positions. Twelve speakers from different industries, from food technology to business startups will be sharing their knowledge on their field of expertise. Mr. Aanas Ali, the founder of DevCurate, will be joining the roster.
“The event will surely guide every student and professional out there from preparing, building, and growing their career through the talks and workshops we prepared. Since the event has three parts, the Ready part will prepare our attendees with the right skills, mindset, and work ethics before applying. In the Set part, it will be beneficial for everyone in building their career profile and finding networks for their job, while in the Grow part, we see to it that everyone will be exposed to the different opportunities in the real world.” Mr. Riego shared when asked on what the attendees should expect after attending the event.
