“Ano Ba Talaga? with Kuya Kim” celebrated its first anniversary with a special two-part “Live at the Pod” studio recording at The Pod Network, bringing together meaningful storytelling and high-energy community moments in front of a live audience.
Hosted by Kim Atienza, the milestone event featured a deeply personal conversation with Gary Valenciano, followed by a crossover episode with The KoolPals, showcasing the range and evolution of podcasting in the Philippines today.
The event was made possible with the support of presenting partners Santé Barley and Memo Plus Gold, alongside brand partners and collaborators who helped bring the live experience to life.

A Conversation on Life, Survival, and Second Chances
The first episode anchored on the theme of second chances at life, with Gary Valenciano sharing candid reflections on his personal journey, including a near-death experience that left a lasting impression on both the live audience and listeners.
“It’s the main left artery of the heart, that was 95% blocked. And my doctor said, ‘Siguro, Gary, isa na lang na talon at maaaring pumutok ‘yon.’ If that happened, I would have been gone on national TV.”
The moment underscored the reality of life’s fragility, transforming the episode into a powerful conversation on resilience, perspective, and the urgency of living with intention.
Gary also spoke about his current chapter in his career, reframing what many perceive as an ending into something more intentional and evolving.
“It’s not because I’m retiring, it’s because I’m transitioning into becoming a different kind of entertainer. Kung saan mas hinahanap ko yung mga ganito, yung mga mas intimate.”

A Full-Circle Moment with The KoolPals
The second live recording shifted into a lighter, more comedic space with The KoolPals, creating a dynamic contrast to the earlier episode. The segment marked a full-circle moment for Kuya Kim, who first entered the podcast space as a guest on their show—an experience that ultimately inspired him to start his own podcast, now celebrating its milestone alongside The KoolPals’ own 7th anniversary.
With spontaneous banter, audience interaction, and signature no-filter humor, the episode highlighted the collaborative, community-driven nature of podcasting, where creators come together to engage audiences in new and unexpected ways.
A Milestone for Podcasting as Experience
The anniversary event offered a rare behind-the-scenes look at how podcasts are created, while demonstrating how the format continues to evolve beyond audio into live, shared experiences. From reflective storytelling to high-energy entertainment, the two-part recording captured the full spectrum of what makes podcasts resonate today.
The event was held in partnership with Being Juice and Snapshot Studios, with media support from WhenInManila.com, and special thanks to Dolor’s Kakanin, Infinity Gourmet, Villa Socorro Farm, and Spotify Philippines.
As “Ano Ba Talaga?” enters its next chapter, the live anniversary recording stands as a strong example of how curiosity-led content can create not just listeners, but also community.
