As part of Philippine Startup Week 2025, Google Developer Groups on Campus – Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (GDGoC PLM) proudly presents “SaaSified and Amplified: Ascending Software to the Sky”, a keynote event that aims to immerse students in the transformative world of Software as a Service (SaaS) and explore how cloud computing continues to revolutionize the way organizations build, deliver, and scale digital solutions.
Hosted at Animo Labs TBI and Fab Lab, De La Salle University, the event will bring together leading industry professionals and innovators in the cloud technology space. Around 100 to 150 Computer Science students from PLM are expected to participate in this half-day session, which will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. The event is dedicated to helping future developers and entrepreneurs understand how SaaS enables flexibility, scalability, and innovation in today’s digital economy.

The keynote lineup features three distinguished speakers. Jazmine Claire Calma, an AWS, GCP, and ISTQB Certified professional, Women Techmakers Ambassador, and GDG Cloud Manila Lead, will deliver a session titled “The SaaS Blueprint: Building in the Clouds.” Her talk will unpack the anatomy of SaaS, exploring how cloud-hosted applications are built and delivered through concepts like multi-tenancy, deployment models, APIs, and microservices.
Sermil Matoto, a Google Developer Expert for Cloud and Chief Engineer at Kollab, will share his insights in “Scaling Heights: The Art of Seamless Growth.” His discussion will focus on the engineering side of SaaS, covering topics such as elastic cloud infrastructure, containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and continuous integration pipelines — all of which make it possible for applications to grow from small-scale prototypes into globally accessible platforms.
Shan Sebastian, CEO of SmartChat AI PH, Co-founder of PH Business Network, and SaaS & AI Content Strategist, will take the stage for “Innovation on Demand: SaaS and the Startup Mindset.” Drawing from his entrepreneurial journey, he will explore how cloud-powered tools can help startups innovate efficiently, maintain customer retention, and scale with limited resources.
Throughout the event, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the SaaS ecosystem and architecture, scalability and flexibility in the cloud, data security and reliability, and how SaaS fuels digital entrepreneurship. The sessions will also highlight emerging trends such as artificial intelligence, automation, and API-driven ecosystems that continue to shape the global tech industry. A live Q&A segment will conclude the program, giving students the chance to directly engage with the speakers and seek advice on building careers or startups in the SaaS and cloud technology sectors.
Aligned with the “Discover” track of Philippine Startup Week 2025, SaaSified and Amplified: Ascending Software to the Sky seeks to inspire curiosity, promote technopreneurship, and empower young innovators to take part in the thriving Philippine startup ecosystem. By blending technical insight with entrepreneurial inspiration, GDGoC PLM continues to advance its mission of developing future-ready technologists and innovators.
