Have you started watching Gangnam B-Side yet? Gangnam B-Side is a gripping Korean crime drama on Disney+ that delves into the shadowy underbelly of Seoul’s affluent Gangnam district. We got to attend the virtual press con of the series recently, and here’s what we learned about the cast.
Get to Know the Cast of Gangnam B-Side
Gangnam B-Side follows Kang Dong-woo, a demoted detective haunted by past mistakes as he becomes entangled in a web of missing person cases. When his daughter’s friend, a high-profile escort named Jae-hee, vanishes, Dong-woo is drawn back into the dangerous world of crime, corruption, and power struggles. As he uncovers a sinister plot involving a powerful criminal organization, he forms an unlikely alliance with Yoon Gil-ho, a mysterious broker with deep connections to the city’s underworld. Together, they navigate the treacherous landscape of Gangnam, confronting dangerous adversaries and risking their lives to expose the truth.

Jo Woo-jin shares that he wanted to make his character of Detective Dong-woo very tangible, a real adult you want by your side. “I wanted the character to be familiar and humane, the typical uncle that you have in your life,” he adds.

Appearance-wise, since Director Park Noo-ri wanted Dong-woo to have a heavy presence, Woo-jin really worked hard. In fact, he reveals that he put on a lot of muscle and fat, and is currently the heaviest he has been since his high school days. “You will see a very new side of me,” he promises.
Speaking of new sides, get ready to see a whole new side of Ji Chang-wook in Gangnam B-Side as well. As Yoon Gil-ho, Chang-wook faces many points of transformation, which he repeatedly thanks the amazing hair and makeup team and lighting team for. Since Gil-ho lives a tough street life in Gangnam, all of the teams really put a lot of thought on how to show that visually through Chang-wook’s styling, outfits, and accessories – and it really paid off!

“If you look at his face, he’s always wounded,” Chang-wook points out. “There’s always a scar or an injury on his face to show what a tough life he lives. It hints that he’s always been in a fight. When he’s with other people, I wanted him to stand out to show that he’s someone dangerous, someone whos’ a little off, so his clothes are very over the top, not what I would usually wear.”
Yet another new look on the list, Ha Yoon-kyung puts on her serious side for Gangnam B-Side.

“She holds a lot of mystery,” Yoon-kyung says of her character, prosecutor Min Seo-jin. Plus, she actually talked to real prosectors to learn about their day-to-day life and really get into the character. “Even when it comes to styling, they usually wear dull colors and never wear anything glamorous, so I really referred to those points,” she points out.

As for Kim Hyoung-seo, she takes on the role of Kim Jae-hee whose future is a huge mystery. “She seems very fragile and unstable,” Hyoung-seo carefully shares as she worries about giving out spoilers. “She is the trigger of everything that happens.”
