Someone has taken the Iron Throne! The original touring Iron Throne from the hit series “Game of Thrones” was sold for a staggering $1.49 million at an auction on October 12.
At an event organized by Heritage Auctions, the bidding for Iron Throne lasted just six minutes. It served as the highest-selling item in the three-day auction.

Other famed props and costumes from “Game of Thrones,” such as Jon Snow’s Longclaw and his night’s watch ensemble, a White Walker display figure, Daenerys Targaryen’s dragon eggs, and more, were also up for grabs.
The 7-foot-tall replica of the Iron Throne was molded from the original screen-used throne. It was expertly crafted from plastic with a painted metallic finish and jewel embellishments to resemble the hilts of once-regal swords.
“This Iron Throne was crafted exclusively for promotional events and tours, such as Comic-Con, Hollywood premieres, and theย Game of Thronesย Touring Exhibition, which visited major cities worldwide, including New York, London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, and Sydney,” the auction house stated on its website.
According to Heritage Auctions, over 1.5 million fans attended the tour and the auction garnered more than $21 million, attracting 4,500 bidders worldwide.
“Game of Thrones” is the TV adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s book series “A Song of Ice and Fire.” The series premiered in 2011 and concluded in 2019 with eight seasons. It starred Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, among others.
In the series, the Iron Throne symbolizes the ultimate seat of power in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros. Various families and individuals compete to claim it and establish their rule.
