Filipino artist, creative director, and former Promil Gifted Child CJ de Silva-Ong passed away on June 18 at 10:45 a.m. after suffering from two strokes. She was 36 years old.
Her husband, Wincy Ong, announced her passing through a Facebook post.
“Sadly, yesterday at 10:45AM, while in the ICU, our beloved CJ suffered two strokes, and finally became one with the Universe,” he wrote. “She was a loving wife to me, a loving cat-mom to our cats Andres and Max, and a loving daughter to her parents and uncle.”
On June 4, she suffered a brain aneurysm and has been in the ICU since then. She also underwent an unsuccessful coiling surgery on the day of her attack, followed by another surgery a few days later.

He paid tribute to CJ’s immense contributions to the creative and arts industry, describing her as a “passionate” Executive Creative Director.
“She was a passionate Executive Creative Director in the industry she loved so much–advertising. She used her talents in illustration and painting in championing causes close to heart.”
Wincy also emphasized that he would remember the kindness his wife had brought to people, “Behind that tough and take-charge person you may know is such a sweet, caring girl. I will always remember her for the kindness she brought to people.”
“She always told me she’d wanted a funeral that was fun and not so serious. Let’s celebrate her 36 amazing years here on this planet by filling it with things that made her happy–music, conversations, coffee, and good food,” he concluded.
CJ’s wake will be held at The Heritage Park in Taguig City from June 20 to June 22, while her cremation service will be on June 23.
CJ is known as one of the gifted children featured in Promil’s commercial way back in the ’90s. She held multiple exhibits and participated in various group art shows through the years.
Some of her notable works are the Palanca Award-winningย “Ang Ikaklit Sa Aming Hardin“ by Bernadette Neri, “Gumagapang, Lumulukso, Lumilipad: Bugtong Sa Mga Kulisap” by Eugene Evasco, “Stupid Is Forever” by late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, and the cover design of Itchyworm’s albumย “After All This Time.”
Meanwhile, her advertising projects include Manikako’s “A Toy Love Story That Will Make You Cry,” which won the Philippines’ first Webby Award, Dolfenal’s “Love” TVC, and Nissan’s “The Leaf Orchestra.” CJ also co-hosted a podcast “Telebabad Tapes” with Wincy.
