Baler, Aurora – A Paradise Playground
Declared as the provincial capital of the Aurora Province, Baler is located 230 kilometers Northeast from Manila.
It was identified by Google in 2009 as the top beach destination in the Philippines. In March 2013, it was also described by Yahoo! Southeast Asia as one of the “top surf spots” in the Philippines. Nine-feet waves serve as its main tourist asset, attracting hundreds of surfers during the surfing season from September to February. – Wikipedia.com
It was my first time to go to Baler and I must say that I was impressed with its pristine beauty and playful vibe. My feet were itching to feel the sand in my toes and bask in the glorious sun even before I ever went, so imagine my surprise when I received an invite from Skyjet Airlines! It was a rightful calling – a much-needed break from all of the hard work we had been going through in Manila. Baler was definitely waiting for us.

8 Things to Look For and Do When in Baler
ย
8. Stay in Baler’s Premier Accommodation: Costa Pacifica Hotel.
ย
Designed with a laidback mood while preserving its elegant ambiance,ย Costa Pacifica is just as beautiful as coursing your way to Baler. The only thing I managed to say upon our arrival was “wooaaaaaah”.
Costa Pacifica is the perfect home for your paradise dreams with comfortable chic accommodation and fantastic gourmet food from their in-house restaurant, the Beach House. Who wouldn’t fall in love at first sight? *sigh*
ย
We stayed at Costa Pacifica’s Junior Suite – a wide and spacious room bursting with vivid colors.ย
Can’t leave that party vibe? Cool music and cool winds keep the groove rolling all night long!
ย One of my most memorable breakfasts! All that great breakfast fare was served by their in-house restaurant, the Beach House.
Glorious, glorious view!
ย
7. Visit Dona Aurora Aragon House.
ย
Dona Aurora Aragon is the wife of former President of the Philippines, Manuel L. Quezon. The house still stands humbly with a lot of stories to tell.ย Strolling around town in itself can give you a brief background of its culture and history.
ย
6. Visit Museo de Baler.
ย
Situated along Quezon Park lies Baler’s Museum. Fine exhibits of paintings and photography are displayed here. The staff from the museum will gladly have you tour around this two-floored building, as well.
ย
5. Visit Ermita Hill.
ย
According to history, Baler was hit by a huge tsunami back in 1735 and only seven people survived the tragedy by climbing Ermita Hill as is depicted in this memorabilia.ย
ย
4. Surf and Play at Sabang Beach (also, watch the sunrise!).
ย
If you’re into surfing, you need to try the waves of Sabang Beach. You can rent a surfboard near the beach in case you didn’t bring one or if you just want to try it out. Sabang Beach is actually known to have good waves for beginners.ย
Also, wake up early (or try not to go to sleep if you can!) and watch the killer sunrise view. Man, I’m telling you: it’ll be worth every second to bask in its glorious beauty.ย
ย
3. Appreciate the Beauty of Dicasalarin Cove.
ย
I first heard about this place when I was having lunch at work and the TV channel was set to this famous show where the lady host was featuring Baler and, of course, mentioned Dicasalarin Cove. While watching that show, I told and promised myself that I would get my feet on that sandy white beach of beauty someday – and yes, my dear readers, one wish off my bucket list! *insert tears of joy*
Dicasalarin Cove is famous for its white sand and amazing vista. Since it’s not a developed area, it’s like experiencing the raw beauty of the wild.ย
ย
1. Buy Nanay Pacing’s Peanut Butter.
Best pasalubong when in Baler!
ย
Paradise is just 25 minutes from my hometown and it is just as wonderful as it sounds. Experience all of these magnificent adventures in just a short amount of travel time, thanks to Skyjet Airlines! Book your flights now!
