It’s the new era in fitness and as we plan our 2026, we’ve seen a shift of the way we travel. The traditional vacation is being outpaced by a more active counterpart- fitness tourism. Travelers are no longer just looking for a place to lounge; they are seeking destinations that challenge their stamina, improve their longevity, and offer the thrill of crossing a finish line… wherever it may be.
The shift toward fitness travel is fueled by a desire for purpose-driven experiences. According to recent trends, travelers—particularly Millennials and Gen Z—are prioritizing physical health as much as relaxation. Whether it’s for a Half Marathon, Marathon or Hyrox, more and more people are adding fitness activities in their itineraries.

These fitness activities abroad are not cheap. With differing exchange rates, a lot of logistical expenses, registration fees, specialized gear, and performance coaching can be expensive, fitness enthusiasts are often surprisingly budget-conscious regarding their transit. The logic is simple if you save on the “getting there,” you can splurge on the “being there.”

Affordable airfare has become the ultimate enabler of this trend. When a flight to a regional fitness hub is priced competitively, it offsets the cost of expensive race entries. For many, the decision to sign up for an international event hinges entirely on whether they can find a flight deal that keeps the total trip cost within reach.

During our Singapore Marathon trip, we are so lucky to have found an affordable flight via Cebu Pacific. The flight was comfortable and direct so we are in Singapore in just a few hours. It’s great that they have direct flights from Manila, Clark, Cebu and Iloilo. Since Singapore is known for being one of the most expensive cities in the world, we had to adjust so we can save. We spent less than Php5,000 per person for our round trip tickets.

Cebu Pacific continues to be a favorite for the active community because they frequently offer “Piso Sales” and year-round low fares to major fitness hubs like Singapore, Tokyo, and Sydney. Their straightforward booking and reliable regional network mean you can spend less time worrying about your wallet and more time focusing on your PR.

The Singapore Marathon starts at the F1 Circuit at 4AM and we were able to find a hotel close enough so we can take an Uber or ride the transfers provided by the run organizers. We stayed in Ibis Hotel Bencoolen which is near 3 MRT stations, a bus stop right in front of the hotel and also near the pick-up point for the marathon. This also gave us the freedom to roam around nearby areas like Bugis, Haji Lane and many more.
2026 has a lot of race schedules and if you are planning your next fitness trip, don’t forget to check out flights via Cebu Pacific.
