First Dose: Mythos — Where Culture, Creativity, and Accountability Converge

The University of the Philippines Pharmaceutical Association (UPPhA) is the Alpha Chapter of the Federation of the Junior Chapters of the Philippine Pharmacists’ Association (FJCPPhA). The Executive Committee and Batch Representatives, recognized as the UPPhA Student Council, is the governing body of the UPPhA that shall preserve and promote the general welfare of the students of the UP College of Pharmacy.

Since its successful revival in 2023, First Dose has become a staple event that offers the student body a much-needed rest from the rigors of academic life. More than a break, it is a celebration of talents within the College of Pharmacy by offering an avenue for expression that transcends the four corners of the classroom. This event is not only an avenue to foster creativity, but also a platform to shed light on pressing social issues that affect our nation. It becomes a call to action in upholding our collective social responsibility to confront these challenges.

This year’s theme takes a deep dive into the stories that shape our world—from the ancient gods of Philippine mythology to the modern “ghost projects” haunting our nation. It explores how myths inspire culture and creativity, while also revealing how myth-making in governance creates illusions that rob communities of real progress.

With this, First Dose: Mythos was held last October 30, 2025, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM at Patio de Manila, with an estimated number of 350 attendees. This event stands as one of our major projects this semester, guided by the following objectives:

To foster inclusivity, camaraderie, and socialization among the students, faculty, and administration of the UP College of Pharmacy. Sense of community that is present in the college, fundamentally encouraging and reminding its stakeholders to work together on projects and initiatives that benefit the college and society as a whole.

To provide a creative avenue for our stakeholders to exercise their right to express and unwind. The UPPhASC, through the UPPhA House and Documentations Service League, believes that having a healthy balance between academics/work and recreation is necessary for an individual’s overall social development and welfare.

To enlighten and creatively educate our stakeholders about the anti-corruption campaign. This event particularly amplifies the call for accountability on the rampant corruption issues surfacing the country. This event shall serve as a means of maximizing the dissemination of our strong stance against corruption, which recently sparked movements and mobilizations across the country. Through this event, we hope to shed light on the issue while purposely relating it to Philippine mythology in order to show the relevance of tackling mythology and Philippine politics at the same time.

The event was made possible through the partnership of UPCP’s home organizations; the sponsorship of Tanduay and Smirnoff; and the media partnership of WhenInManila.com. It also featured stellar performances from UPCP’s very own Therapeumyx x PJAM and Half-lives, alongside a powerhouse lineup of OPM artists including This Band, Arthur Miguel, Owl’s Night, Nevertheless, Marahuyo, and RHIN—all of whom brought talent, energy, heart, and artistry on the stage.

First Dose: Mythos was more than just a night of music and celebration. Students, faculty, and guests got their dose of mythos with captivating performances while simultaneously advocating for accountability for ghost projects and spreading awareness on corrupt officials.
