First Filipino COVID-19 Death in the Philippines Has Been Confirmed

The Department of Health has confirmed that a COVID-19 patient confined at the Manila Doctors Hospital in Manila has died last night. Patient PH35 was 67 years old without any travel history or exposure to COVID-19. She is the first Filipino fatality of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

The patient’s symptoms were first reported on February 29 and she tested positive for the virus on March 11. She was one of the 16 new cases that were announced yesterday.

There is no further information on the death so far, but it goes without saying that everyone should be vigilant and get tested as soon as symptoms arise. It would also be advisable to follow the Department of Health’s official social media accounts to stay up to date on the COVID-19 situation.
