You don’t want to anger the “sublime paralytic”.
Actor Epy Quizon, who plays the paralytic and “Brains of the Katipunan” Apolinario Mabini in the film HENERAL LUNA, took to posting on his Facebook a photo of him holding a pirated copy of the movie, with the caption “Sarili pinili nyo eh!!!”

This is in reference to a popular line in the film uttered by Heneral Luna himself, “Negosyo o kalayan? Bayan o sarili? Pumili ka!!” (Business or freedom? The nation or yourself? Make your choice!!) Epy is seen sitting on a chair just like his character, and boy, he does NOT look happy.
Just recently, Epy has made social media headlines after posting about several youth wondering why his character, Mabini, was “always seated throughout the movie”, to which he wondered what schools were teaching in history classes nowadays and why the young ones don’t seem to know who Mabini was.
HENERAL LUNA initially struggled to stay in theaters due to upcoming mainstream and foreign films, but managed a breakthrough and ended up grossing P100 million in theaters this September 27. Bankrolled by a group led by Fernando Ortigas, the film had a budget of P200 million, and needs P100 million more to break even, AND to continue with its planned sequels on Gen. Del Pilar and Pres. Manuel Quezon.
Let’s help prevent the spread of piracy, especially of local content!
What do you think of these pirated copies?? Did you like what Epy did?

Just a few corrections.
1. Jacinto is dubbed as the Brains of the Katipunan. Mabini, on the other hand, is the brains of the revolution
2. To Filipinos who pirate our own local films, especially the indie and the obras, shame. Shame. Shame. Shame
punyetang mga pirata yan, dapat ipataw ang parusa ng artikulo uno sa mga yan
Other AAA movies pirated to DVD. No one minds.
Heneral Luna movie pirated to DVD. EVERYONE’S AN ANTI-PIRACY ADVOCATE.
Good Job Epi! Kailangan at napapanahon ang mga ganitong klase ng pelikula. Those schools needs to review their curriculum. Our history, Our nation, Our Heroes. Dapat alam nating lahat yan. And, correct me if Im wrong, Emilio Jacito is the Brain of the Katipunan. ( Utak ng Katipunan ) while Apolinario Mabini is the Brain of Revolution ( Utak ng Himagsikan ) am I right?
In indonesia, a country very similar in economic predicament with the Philippines – all FOREIGN movies are fair game to piracy. However, Indons (gov’t authorities too) hold a very strong sense of nationalism, so much so that NO LOCAL FILM is ever pirated AT ALL. If only we could emulate this, then we are off to a good start…That said, i am not condoning any form of piracy!
I should know, i have been a pinoy expat professional living in Indonesia for 12+ years.
