Looks like it will be a fun Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines next year.

Department of Tourism chief Wanda Teo confirmed that the Miss Universe 2017 pageant will be held in the Philippines. She also said that the coronation night will be at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on January 30, 2017.

Moreover, she confirmed that Steve Harvey will reprise his role as the host of the pageant.

As you can recall, Harvey was also the host of the last year’s Miss Universe where he mistakenly announced Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the Miss Universe and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach as the first runner-up. The pageant was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. A few minutes after, Harvey took back his announcement to clarify that Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach is the winner.

Apparently, Harvey has a five-year contract to host the Miss Universe pageant.

There are still information whether Harvey will have a Filipino co-host during the pageant.

Yet, the DOT clarified that the government will not spend anything for the pageant since the private sector will spend for the estimated $11 million production cost.

The Philippines has hosted the pageant twice in the past. It was in 1974 and 1994.

What do you think of Steve Harvey hosting the Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines?
