Pinay actress Mercedes Cabral, known for her roles in many arthouse and indie films in the Philippines such as Serbis, Captive, Kinatay, and Thy Womb, is apparently doing big in a Kuwaiti soap opera “Saq Al-bambu (The Bamboo Stalk)”.
According to interaksyon.com, Cabral is doing an impressive performance on the show.
The show is like a modern Cinderella story where a Pinay maid working in Kuwait captures the affection of her employer’s son, Rashid. He wants to marry her but his mother disagrees and wants him to have an arranged marriage with someone else.
The show is being aired on Al-Rai TV and MBC Drama in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Dubai in United Arab Emirates and other parts of the Middle East.
On social media, Cabral has a growing fanbase. One even compared Cabral’s beauty to supermodel Gigi Hadid.
Cabral is also part of the internationally acclaimed movie, Ma’Rosa.
