But this is for real, Atom Araullo will star on a Mike de Leon comeback movie “Citizen Jake”.
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, veteran filmmaker Mike de Leon casted real-life journalist Atom Araullo to play a reporter on the movie.
De Leon said that after a series of meetings, he can now announce that Araullo is “firmly on board, having been given the all clear by his bosses” in ABS-CBN.
Apparently, De Leon and Araullo have already started swapping ideas for the film. They are also working with reporter and writer Noel Pascual.
De Leon added, “Atom is not show biz. In the film, I am not using ‘starring Atom Araullo’…but ‘featuring Atom Araullo.”
He also hinted that “Citizen Jake” might be his last film.
The title of the movie, De Leon explained, focuses on “the world of citizen journalists, social media and politics.”
Apparently, De Leon has not tried casting the other characters yet. He said, “hopefully, by early December.”
De Leon is popular for films like “Batch ’81” and “Kisapmata”.
