Ella Mai was recently nominated for four awards at the American Music Awards – and there really isn’t any wonder why. Last month, Ella Mai’s made it to Manila as one of the few lucky international stops on her tour.
Everyone in the venue was singing and dancing along to her hit singles — such as “Trip” and “Boo’d Up” — the entire night. The Grammy Awards nominee sure knew how to deliver a show-stopping performance with her powerful vocals and insane moves. Manila was so ready for Ella and she did not disappoint!
Even though the concert was smack in the middle of a school and work week, that did not stop her fans from coming out to spend their Wednesday night with her. It was actually the first concert I went to with my college best friend, which made the night even more memorable.
From singing our hearts out in our condo, we were finally able to sing along with Ella herself while in the front row of her show! Even though we were out of space in the pit area, we were somehow still able to break out a couple of dance moves here and there, especially when our favorites — Whatchamacallit, Shotclock, and She Don’t — were performed. This concert was definitely one for the books!
Ella knew how to keep the crowd up and running, and her energy certainly rubbed off on every single attendee. As much as possible, she would try to make eye contact with her fans, and she even went down to personally interact and shake hands with some of them after the show. She also vibed well with her back-up singers; it was almost like their concert, too. Major props to her band for making everything feel more alive, as well.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we’d see her back soon and I’m sure that by then, her fans would have already quadrupled; but for now, we have these memories and Spotify to keep us company.
