Earthday Jam: 16 Years of Sizzling Music Street Party for Mother Earth!

The heat is on, your blood’s pumping, your skin’s sweaty, and you’re just too weary from the temperature. It’s summer all right. But the weather’s crazy and something tells you global warming isn’t a joke. On April 23, 5:00pm at the SM by the Bay, Mall of Asia is the return of one shabang, Earthday Jam. Always free to the public! Audiences will sing along with over 100 musicians and artists who gather to perform for the only home we have in an 8-9hour merry music making marathon.

Earthday Jam: 16 Years of Sizzling Music Street Party for Mother Earth!

Spearheaded by Lou Bonnevie (recipient of the Fr.

Neri Satur award for Environmental Heroism given by the NCCA, UNESCO, Climate Institute and DepEd current Clean Air Champion) and her Earthday Jam Foundation. A project of Earthday Jam Foundation, inc. with partners Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the SM By The Bay ,MOA — Earthday Jam 2016’s roster is a perky mix of young and veteran performers from jazz, folk to alternative, rock and hip hop.

The concert starts with some explosive samba-drumming ensemble, Brigada which then segues to the singer-songwriter-guitarist Barbie Almalbis. The set follows suit with catchy hits from soul siren Nina, Kitchie Nadal, Bossa nova exponent Sitti and pop group, GraceNote. The rock scene then headlines major ‘icons”— Slapshock, Kjwan, 6cyclemind and Mayonnaise with “Earthday Jam” veteran artist-producer-envi awardee herself, Lou Bonnevie and acoustic guru Noel Cabangon. Earthday jam can’t be complete without the Reggae Rastas of The Chongkeys. The much awaited showdown of rap and hip hop will be manifested from Abra and his group.

Also featured is gothic rock group Philia. Newbies include award winning all-female band Flying Ipis and Absolute Play. Also at hand are speakers from environmental NGO organizations and volunteers from the civic society who will share their expertise on some of the most pressing issues of the country. Hosts include actor Alvin Anson, Pam Nieva, Phoebe Walker, and Midi G. with surprise appearances of beauty titlists and celebrities. Overall director is Toto Gentica.

You’re especially invited to drop by early and check out the booth exhibits adjacent to the performance area. It’s easy to say “Save the Earth.” It’s another thing to actually do that, and that’s what this hot party’s all about! At the jam, your support by enlisting in any of the DENR’s activities and those of the other NGOs is just one of the causes for celebration. Better still, to bring out a placard to shout out your environmental sentiments. Make some noise and bring some good cheers. Party at SM by the Bay, if you love Mother Earth as much as you should!
