The UP Mass Communicators’ Organization presents this year’s MAJOR ISSUE
“Drawing the Line: Gauging the Impact on Satirical Commentary Depicted in Philippine Comics and Editorial Cartoons”.
The event will feature a discussion on how cartoonists employ the medium of art to make a commentary on social issues, the cultural implications of the commentaries found in comics and editorial cartoons, and the limitations set on comics and editorial cartoons because of their form and conventions in structure and content.
Speakers for the event will be Mr. Rene Aranda, chief cartoonist of The Philippine Star, Mr. Manix Abrera, creator of Kiko Machine comics, Prof. Clod Yambao from the Dept. of Art Studies, Prof. Jeremy Sanchez from the Dept. of English and Comparative Literature, and Prof. Nathan Cruz from the De La Salle University.
