When in Manila, where Oriental Fusion cuisine seems to be the trend these days, Dragon Chef located on the 4th floor of TriNoma Mall is ready to serve you with their one-of-a-kind dimsum and dishes—all put together by the famous Chef Florabel Co-Yatco in partnership with Ricky Laudico.

From the makers of Mr. Kurosawa and SumoSam comes this hearty and hip Chinese bistro where my sister and I dined last July 18 together with fellow food bloggers of Metro Manila.

A series of yummy dimsum plates were served—including Xiao Long Bao, Quarry Bay (or pork siomai with edamame) and Har Gao (or shrimp dumplings). Shrimp Dumplings are always one of my staple orders whenever I eat out in Chinese restaurants and Dragon Chef’s was definitely one of the best I’ve tasted. It was rich and had this creamy savor to it. Another appetizer we were made to try was the Manchurian Calamari—which was a little spicy, and was served with its own unique sauce. For soup, we had the Seafood Beancurd (which I would definitely recommend) and for salad, we had the Nirvana Salad—comprising of crispy tofu, fruits, walnuts, and sesame dressing.

For the main course, you can’t go wrong with Emperor Wenzong—a generous plate of crispy Asian chicken served with barbecue sauce and lychee cucumber salad. Other dishes distributed were the Sweet and Sour Pork, Wan Chai Pork Asado and Lechon Macau (another must-try!) and Pork Belly. For noodles, I enjoyed the Mixed Seafood.

Like I always say, a meal is never complete without dessert! And with the number of desserts available in Dragon Chef’s menu, one I would commend is the Snowballs—a delightful plate similar to Buchi.
