An Evening Affair at Dona Jovita Garden Resort
As the moonlight shone at 7PM, we got to dine at Tita Lettie’s Grill again for our dinner. Other than the cool breeze and fresh air, the ambiance of the place really astounded me. Even if we were patiently waiting for our food to come, there was never a dull moment as I not just had great company, but also a relaxing live performance from their resident acoustic singer, Chlara.
Best thing about the province is its simplicity and peaceful atmosphere.
The first ulam (dish) of the night, Sinigang na Hipon, was perfect for the chilly weather. (Php215)
Another vegetable dish that wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I actually kind of enjoyed their Shrimp Ampalaya. The ampalaya’s (Bitter Melon) “bitter” flavor did not overpower the dish. Seasonings and spices made it more appetizing and delicious, of course. haha
Acoustic singer, Chlara, plays there every Saturday night from 8pm – 12mn. Her songs have been featured in TV shows such as Myx. Along with her regular playlist of popular and guilty pleasure songs, she also covers requested songs from the audience.
Of course, our trip would not be complete without taking a short swim in any of their pools. So, it was time to try out the hot spring at Dona Jovita and it was the perfect cold weather to dive into hot water.
After changing into our swimming clothes, we went to the pool. It was my FIRST time to try out a hot spring and though I was excited, I also felt a bit terrified. It took time getting used to, but once your body is submerged, it felt really nice and stress-relieving. The only problem, though, is when you get out. haha
*depressed sigh* oh, I wish that day could be longer, but eventually we all have to go back to reality. It was a great vacation, though. Even if it was only for a day, I felt more relaxed compared to the last few months of school. I finally got to breathe and be far away from the city for awhile. And being a not-so-adventurous type of person, I had a lot of first times here, though I wished I tried the zipline and rappelling… maybe on my next visit. 🙂
I also recommend you to experience what I had at Dona Jovita. Luckily, they’re celebrating their 22nd anniversary so for the whole month of March, you’ll get a 22% discount in all accommodations including ROOMS, TREE HOUSES, PICNIC HUTS & TABLES. Inclusive days are Mondays 8am to Thursdays 7pm.
Also, be sure to book a room or visit them for the Holy Week. They have a special Holy Week program including a stations of the cross activity wherein guests and other patrons will have to hike up from the resort to the grotto on top of a foothill of Mt. Makiling.
Again, be sure to include Doña Jovita Garden Resort in your summer plans.
