DOH to distribute 1 million PPE sets

Last weekend, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said that the Department of Health has ordered P1.8 billion worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers.

This is to increase the protection of health workers who are fighting the COVID-19 virus.

Duque said that the P1.8 billion budget can buy 1 million PPE sets for the health workers, and they are currently waiting for the delivery of these sets. A PPE set includes the following: headgear, goggles, N95 mask, gloves, apron, and gown. Duque said that each set costs around P1,500.

A bulk of these PPE sets will be further distributed health workers working in government hospitals. He also mentioned that after sending PPE sets to government hospitals, they could also give to private hospitals in need.

As of writing, there have been 1,419 reported cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines with 71 deaths and 42 recoveries.
