After over ten years, DongYan is back!!! The on-screen love team/real-life married couple, Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, is finally reuniting with an upcoming film by Star Cinema! This is in collaboration with APT Entertainment and Agosto Dos Media.

“Sobrang excited [ako maka-work ang Star Cinema and] at the same time, si Direk [Mae],” Rivera said at the press conference of Rewind. The upcoming DongYan film titled “Rewind” will be directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar with a screenplay by Enrico Santos and the creative direction of Carmi Raymundo. “Kasi si Dong ang daming kuwento tungkol sa kanya. So sabi ko kay Dong, sana balang araw ma-direct din niya ako. Punong-puno ng pangarap ‘yung mga kwento ni Dong sa akin every time may Star Cinema siya. So sabi ko, sana balang araw.”
Like an answered prayer, she grabbed the opportunity to collaborate with her husband. “Parang bawat paglipat ko ng pahina sa script, walang tapon… Walang dahilan para hindi ko ito gawin, especially kasama ko si Dong. Kasi alam niya, every time nagkaka-partner kami na kaming dalawa, meron kaming moment na mas tumitibay kami. ‘Ah, may ganun pala siya.’ So may bago akong nadi-discover sa kanya. Lalo akong nai-in love. May ganung moment! So sabi ko kay Direk, gagawin ko iyan kahit mahirapan ako sa schedule,” Rivera expounded.
Meanwhile, Dantes emphasized how they aim to make their children proud in every project they partake in. He said, “Siyempre bukod sa makakasama ko siya at makaka-collaborate ko ang mga napakahusay na creators, gusto rin namin is bawat project na pinipili namin, maging proud ‘yung mga anak namin. Ito yung klaseng pelikula at kwentong gusto naming ibahagi sa mga manunood. Very, very true to form dahil it is a family movie.”
As for what the upcoming DongYan movie is about, he spilled, “It has a very big heart and may touch of magic realism.” Plus, the director said that the story revolves around–and even explores beyond–the concept of second chances, as suggested by the title.
“Rewind” will reportedly be released in cinemas later this year. Although, Mr. and Mrs. Dantes have already shared a teaser on Instagram.

Furthermore, Marian expressed her gratitude and excitement along with photos at the press con in an earlier post. “I am beyond blessed to be able to share the screen with my loving husband in God’s perfect time. We can’t wait to bring this project to life and make unforgettable memories together,” she wrote.

Dingdong announced the news to his followers with a post, too. “An exciting project is in the making, and this time, I have the pleasure of working alongside my amazing wife,” he shared on Wednesday, June 21. “After more than a decade, the wait is finally over as we announce our upcoming film ‘REWIND,’ directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar.”
“This masterpiece, created by Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado, holds a special place in our hearts, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you. Thanks to the incredible partners from Star Cinema and APT Entertainment, this long-awaited collaboration is becoming a reality! Stay tuned for an unforgettable cinematic experience coming soon to theaters,” he concluded.
