Darren Espanto revealed that he dated Kyline Alcantara. In an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the singer-actor opened up about their past relationship following the Kapuso actress’ appearance on “It’s Showtime,” where the hosts teased them.
When Boy asked the real story behind it, Darren admitted that they had a puppy love kind of relationship when they were younger.
“Hindi ko po masagot ng yes or no kasi it was [I cannot answer a yes or no], like, parang [like] a puppy love kind of thing,” he answered.

He also revealed that Vice Ganda was aware of it, explaining why the “It’s Showtime” hosts were teasing them, “Yun nga po na tinutukso kami na. Kasi nga, naging kami dati. Kaya kami binibiro ni Ate Vice [They were teasing us because we dated in the past. That’s why Vice Ganda were joking with us].”
Without mentioning the timeline of their relationship, Darren said they lasted together for a year, and they’re “very comfortable” with each other. He even shared that they parted ways due to misunderstandings.
“There were some misunderstandings. And then when we both matured, six years later, parang napag-usapan nga namin [We talked]. Eventually, we became okay with each other again. Naging friends na ulit [We became friends again],” he explained. “Syempre pag mga bata, parang konting mga petty na away [Of course, when you’re still young, you had petty fights].”
Prior to this, Darren shut down dating rumors with Cassy Legaspi, clarifying they’re just “best friends.” Meanwhile, Kyline’s former on-screen love team and partner and Cassy’s brother, Mavy Legaspi, said in a report in “24 Oras” that he has no problem with Kyline being playfully linked to Darren.
