In an Instagram livestream on January 12, she told fans that she would share updates about the situation “when the time comes.”
“Right now, a lot of things are still in the process of being sorted out. When the time comes, I will update you all about what’s happening, about the lawsuits, and about everything, I guess, you’re curious about,” she said.
Amid the ongoing situation, the Australian–South Korean singer emotionally told fans that she did everything she could to stay with NewJeans.
“I can say clearly: I fought ‘till the very end to be together with the members. And that truth stays with me,” she affirmed. “This is only the beginning.”
The legal battle began in November 2024 when the girl group announced they were terminating their contract with Ador. Eventually, members Haerin and Hyein confirmed that they would resume activities under the record label, while Minji and Hanni returned amid “ongoing discussions.”
Meanwhile, the agency terminated Danielle’s contract and is now suing her for millions in damages. Furthermore, an unnamed member of her family and NewJeans’ former producer, Min Hee-jin, are also facing lawsuits for allegedly breaching their contracts.
The total amount being sought for alleged contract breaches amounts to 43.1 billion won, or approximately $29.4 million (₱1.7 billion).
NewJeans achieved global success with the chart-topping hits “Attention,” “Hype Boy,” and “Super Shy,” among others.
