I still remember the days when there was only one type of PlayStation (the original gray clunky one) and the games were pretty limited at first. My sister used to be obsessed with the Tomb Raider games and wouldn’t stop playing them. While I never grew fond of the game (I was more of a Crash Bandicoot girl), I spent a good lot of my time watching her navigate her way through caves as Lara Croft.
And then the Angelina Jolie movies came out, but soon after that, the Tomb Raider hype of kind of died for a while. In 2013, however, Square Enix decided to reboot Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider, introducing the character to a new generation. Of course, with Hollywood being such a lover of reboots, MGM and Warner Bros are now planning to reboot the franchise… and Daisy Ridley of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fame is reportedly being considered for the role.
While nothing is set in stone yet, I’m loving the idea of seeing her as Lara Croft. I can already imagine her kicking ass in a long braid. What do you think? 🙂
