The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP), which is composed of over 1,400 Catholic schools, launched on July 17 a 14-day prayer for peace initiative for Marawi City and other areas in the Philippines where there are conflicts as well.

CEAP’s member schools will offer prayers, other intentions, observe moments of silence and help in efforts to rebuild Marawi, which has been besieged by fighting between government troops and members of the Maute terrorist group since May 23.

The prayer for peace is in line with the project of the National Advocacy Commission (NAC) and has been adopted by the whole CEAP community. Students and faculty members of the country’s catholic schools will offer prayers for peace everyday until July 31.

The Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) is the national association of Catholic educational institutions in the Philippines. Founded in 1941, its members include universities and colleges offering academic and continuing education programs. Majority of its members are mission schools offering basic education to the country’s poor and marginalized sectors.
