Burt’s Bees: 30 Years of Natural Goodness
When in Manila had a chance to celebrate with one of the most well-known brands of natural skin care.
Burt’s Bees celebrated its 30th year this 2014. Yes, the brand that started with the bee has been creating natural products since 1984.
30 Years of Natural Goodness!
When I arrived at the Satin Room of Seda Hotel in BGC, I was surprised to find personalized mason jars for each of us, which we could fill up with water and add oranges, cucumber and honey to! There were also sweets, such as cupcakes and macaroons, which we could nibble on during the event.

Each table had a Burt’s Bees product for each of the attendees, as well, plus a yellow envelope and a mini Burt’s Bees notebook.
Love their hand cream!
The program started with May Samson sharing the story and history of Burt with us. Yes, Burt is actually a real person and is one of the reasons why this great brand was born in the first place.

Burt and his bees
Burt’s Bees was b0rn when Roxanne Quimby and Burt Shavitz met. Roxanne needed a ride home once and good ol’ Burt pulled over and let her in. They immediately hit if off. During that time, Burt was already known in his town for his beard and roadside honey stand. Not long after that, Roxanne started using his unused bees wax and turning them into candles. Come 1991, she was able to perfect the recipe of their well-loved lip balm. From then on, they were able to come up with different all-NATURAL products that cater to people all around the globe!
Just some of their bestselling products
After sharing the interesting story of Burt with us, we had a mini watercolor workshop with Liz Lanuzo of ProjectVanity.com. She taught us some of the watercoloring basics, including the color wheel and different brush strokes, as well as tips on how to achieve a nice painting.
More color, more fun! (My seatmate’s work)
After the fun activity, some of the Burt’s Bees team members gave a few words regarding the brand and how it promises to continue to take good care of their customers.

Marites and Paulo also shared that Burt’s Bees promises to do good for both our skin and for nature.
The Greater Good Business Model
This is their business model, which focuses on the people, profit and the planet. They believe that you can’t have one without the other two. So, from taking care of their employees to providing natural ingredients to their products (for their customers) and making recyclable packaging, they promise to do good in all of these aspects and hope to set an example for the world to follow. Inspiring, right?
It was a great birthday celebration for Burt’s Bees and everyone who attended. Learning Burt’s story and knowing that their products only use natural ingredients made me love the brand even more.
When in Manila remember to use only natural products which are good for your skin and for the earth. Use Burt’s Bees!
