Yesterday, October 14, at the Midas Hotel and Casino, People had come together for one night to celebrate the glory days of one of the greatest rock bands in history.

Beatles hits are embedded onto people’s memories like the initials of their first love. I had one too many Beatles songs on my list but I’m glad they played crowd favorites that made people get up and twist and shout!

Composed of members Luis Renteria (Ringo), Tyson Kelly (John), Benjamin Chadwick (Paul) and Robert Bielma (George), Britain’s Finest, unlike most of the Beatles tribute bands that I have seen perform, gives the audience the complete experience. With their good looks and their spotless renditions of Beatles classics such as “I Want To Hold Your Hand,” “Yesterday,” She Loves You,” “Twist And Shout,” “Get Back”, “Something,”, “Imagine,” and “Hey Jude,” they’ll tease your nostalgic senses and make you swear you’re watching the real thing.

It’s amazing to see how the band squeezed the youth out of the old-timers in the audience. When the Beatles ruled the world, every teenage girl dreamt of having babies with them and boys imitated their style and fashion. I never got to experience what it’s like to see them perform live but I know that my concert companion and my grandma, one of the biggest Beatlemaniacs I know, was having the time of her life reviving her teenage memories with John, Paul, George, and Ringo. More than the electrifying performance, it was the bright eyes and huge smiles of the crowd that lit up the Midas tent.
Growing up, I had danced several times to Love me do, considered learning Across the universe on my guitar as one of my biggest accomplishments, and serenaded parties with my own KTV rendition of Let it Be. It was a dream and a refreshing change to watch a classy performance sans the bum-exposing costumes and the influx of production material. It was just me, my grandma, and the our favorite ‘Britsh foursome.’
Britain’s Finest definitely gave us the complete Beatles experience. Catch them in three more shows this week on October 15 at the Monastery in Cebu, on October 16 at Marco Polo, Davao, and back in Manila on October 17 at the PICC Pleanary Hall.
