Bratpack has always been a staple in youth culture, a companion and authority in harnessing the creative energies and passion of the youth, as reflected in their hip, trendy and urban designs.
Proving that they are a force to be reckoned with among young ‘uns, Bratpack teamed up with Universe Gastrolounge and Nightclub, and Pioneer DJ in bringing the SPINISTER DJ Competition, a platform for a new blood of DJs to be heard and recognized to shake up the local music scene.
The SPINISTER DJ Competition called out to aspiring college student DJs aged 18 to 25 to upload the meanest 30-minute mix. The prize? An awesome gig at the Malasimbo Lights and Dance Festival in Puerto Galera. Not bad for up-and-coming DJs trying to make it big!
Nine amateur DJs battled it out on the deck of Universe Gastrolounge and Nightclub in Resorts World Manila last January 22, 29, and February 5 for the semi-finals round. Five remained as the victors of the DJ battle.
The winners are:
John Paul Gabuten of De La Salle University in 5th place;
Rolf Ivan Mariano, also of De La Salle University in 4th place;
Franz Bundoc of the FEU Institute of Technology in 3rd place;
Mark Jhelou Manansala hailing from Angeles University Foundation in 2nd place;
And the champion of the Bratpack Spinister competition was Jeane Philip Zamora from FEU Institute of Technology!
The champion DJ took home the Bratpack Spinister trophy, as well as these awesome prizes:
P20,000 cash, P15,000 worth of Bratpack gift certificates, a Pioneer DDJ-SR DJ Controller, an hour-long segment at Universe Gastrolounge and Nightclub on February 18, 2015, and the much coveted segment at the Malasimbo Lights and Dance Festival on March 13, 2015.
But of course, being the awesome music supporters they are, no finalist went home empty handed, with all 9 semi-finalists taking away P5,000 worth of Bratpack goodies, with the 3rd placer winning P10,000 in cash and P5,000 worth of Bratpack gift certificates, and the 2nd placer with P15,000 cash and P10,000 worth of Bratpack gift certificates.
It was a young, wild and free night, booming with fresh talent and young blood. We can only hope that we can see much more of this talent the next time SPINISTER rolls around again.
