Boracay Tourists Caught For Faking COVID-19 Test Results

Three more tourists in Boracay were caught falsifying COVID-19 results. In December 2020, 5 tourists were also arrested for allegedly submitting fake COVID-19 test results.

The three new tourists from Metro Manila with fake COVID-19 results turned out to be positive for the virus. They were brought to the Aklan Training Center (ATC) which is the provincial quarantine facility of the province along with their companions.

When authorities found out that the tests were fake, they searched for the tourists at their registered hotel but they were nowhere to be found. They were then traced in another hotel where authorities escorted them.

Local Health Authorities are now tracing the tourist movements to see who they had close contact with and to prevent the virus from spreading.

Since December, there was a total of 26 tourists who submitted fake test results.

One of the requirements of traveling to Boracay is a negative RT-PCR result within 72hours from the flight departure.
