Boa has finally concluded her 25-year partnership with SM Entertainment.

On January 12, SM Entertainment announced that K-pop idol BoA will no longer renew her contract. The K-pop idol wrapped up their 25-year-collaboration on December 31, 2025 after “lengthy and in-depth discussions” with the agency.

“We are honored to have been part of every step of BoA’s dazzling journey, from her remarkable debut that rewrote the history of K-pop to her growth into a chart-topping artist and accomplished producer,” the agency wrote, according to a translated statement from South Korean news agency Korea JoongAng Daily.
“BoA has been the pride and symbol of SM Entertainment for 25 years,” it added.
As of writing, the K-pop idol has yet to announce which agency she will be joining.
BoA is a K-pop idol who debuted in 2000 at the age of 13. She is best known for the tracks “Atlantis Princess,” “No. 1,” “Milky Way,” and “Eat You Up,” among others. She is also a member of the supergroup Got the Beat alongside fellow SM artists like Taeyeon and Hyoyeon from Girls’ Generation, Seulgi and Wendy from Red Velvet, and Karina and Winter from Aespa.
The 38-year-old singer-songwriter also starred in the hit drama series “Marry My Husband.”
