A paycheck may bring employees to work, but what makes them stay? Beyond salaries and benefits, today’s workforce seeks recognition, work-life balance, professional growth, and workplaces where well-being matters.

A growing number of organizations are discovering what many describe as the “paycheck paradox,” the reality that while competitive compensation remains important, it is no longer the sole factor influencing employee satisfaction and retention. Employees today are increasingly looking beyond financial rewards and evaluating whether their workplaces provide flexibility, opportunities for growth, meaningful recognition, and support for their overall well-being. As expectations continue to evolve across generations, organizations are challenged to create work environments where employees feel valued not only for the work they do, but also as individuals.

Recognizing this, GO4L CH4SERS, composed of fourth-year BSBA Human Resource Management (4-4) students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP), Sta. Mesa, will conduct the webinar “Beyond the Paycheck: HR’s Role in Supporting Employee Well-Being, Engagement, and Retention Across a Multigenerational Workforce” on October 26, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM via Zoom and Facebook Live.

Organized under HRMA 403 – Special Topics in Human Resource Management, the webinar will explore how organizations can address the needs and expectations of employees across different generations. Discussions will cover multigenerational workforce dynamics, workplace flexibility, recognition, career development, employee well-being, and organizational support, highlighting how inclusive HR strategies can foster healthier, more engaging, and supportive work environments.

These discussions are particularly relevant as organizations continue to adapt to changing workplace expectations, making it more important than ever to understand what motivates employees. Different generations often bring distinct perspectives, priorities, and work preferences, making employee engagement a complex but essential responsibility. While compensation remains a fundamental aspect of employment, research and workplace experience increasingly show that employees are more likely to remain committed to organizations that foster trust, support professional development, and create a sense of belonging. By addressing these factors, organizations can build stronger workplace cultures that benefit both employees and employers.

The webinar also supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through its focus on workplace wellness, inclusive people practices, learning, and collaboration.

Led by Alexia Nathalie D. Abad, Overall Project Head and Committee Chairman, under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Cresilda M. Bragas, GO4L CH4SERS hopes to inspire future HR professionals and workplace leaders to recognize employee well-being as an essential driver of engagement, retention, and organizational success.

More than an academic discussion, the webinar serves as a reminder that sustainable organizations are built not only through compensation, but through genuine care for people.
