Best Hotel in Manila: A Staycation at the Sofitel

Because we’ve been so busy with work lately, my husband and I really wanted to have a massage so we booked a spa suite at Le Spa which is located on the lower ground floor of the hotel. We booked a 90-minute session called Filipino Pride which was a combination of the traditional Hilot, Swedish, Shiatsu and reflexology massage techniques. The massage also included a sparkling bottle of wine, pralines and a nice hot bath prepared for us, complete with rose petals. This was exactly what we needed! When we entered the suite, I knew I was going to have a very relaxing afternoon but as if seeing the whole spa set up wasn’t enough, they opened a door to reveal a very private secret corner with a view of the sunset and I immediately thought to myself, yet again, why I consider Sofitel as the best hotel in Manila! Hands down. I literally found my own little corner of heaven here and I wanted to revel in it. I want to write about this experience on a separate post so I’ll definitely update you guys about that post soon!

We were there just in time for this beautiful sunset. No other hotel in Manila can boast of such a fantastic view complete with this romantic hideaway.

After a relaxing massage, we rested for a bit and later on went downstairs for the dinner buffet at Spiral. When you think Sofitel, you can’t help but be excited not just about your stay, but about the food you’ll be having at Spiral. You cannot and I mean CANNOT go to Sofitel and not have a meal at Spiral. Spiral is the best buffet restaurant in Manila. I mean with 21 dining ateliers (french word for workshop) , you have a mind blowing array of choices, from Japanese food, to Korean, Chinese, Indian, Filipino, French and so much more all in one place! Who needs to go out and explore when everything is here? Now you would know what it’s like to try different cuisines without the need to buy expensive airline tickets. When Spiral reopened their doors last November 2012 after a costly renovation because of a huge storm that hit the country the previous year, a lot of us in Manila were so excited to know about it because they undoubtedly have the best buffet in Manila coupled with gorgeous interiors and the best hotel and restaurant staff. The wait was well worth it. Even the manager of Spiral was always on his feet checking what else needed attending to. And my favorite? L’ Epicerie! In Laymen’s term, the cheese room. In my dictionary, Cheese Heaven. It, to me, was the most impressive addition to Spiral. It’s a room that has an extensive line up of cheese, cured meats, crackers and condiments to compliment your selection. Again, HEAVEN. Watch out as I post more about Spiral next time!
