When in Manila and you want a weekend adventure that will give you both the perks of staying fit and being able to help send teens to college, then save the date for Takbo Para sa Iskolar, Fun Run 2013!
This fun run is organized by the Ramon Magsaysay (Cubao) High School Alumni Association (RMCHSAAI). The proceeds from the event will be used for the scholarship program of the mentioned institution. RMCHSAAI supports deserving college scholars and helps finance their schooling as they enter the country’s premier universities.
Last year, I had the opportunity to join their Fun Run, and it was a very exhilarating feeling. The alumni volunteers in the registration booth were very accommodating and the setting, the Camp Aguinaldo track field, was enough to clear away anxieties and get a rejuvenating boost. I joined in the 3k race and gained several new friends while dashing towards the finish line.
The Fun Run is surely a weekend to remember. The cool air from the trees surrounding the track field, the security provided by the marshals and camp guards, the assistance of fitness instructors and the sense of both peace and excitement– these are just among the things that you’ll surely get from the experience.
I am also fortunate to have known the scholars who have been helped by the event. Their fresh batch of graduate scholars include 2 cum laudes in the University of the Philippines and 1 magna cum laude in the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. It’s good to know that the small fee you have actually contributed through the registration kit fee go a long way in helping others build good foundation for their future. This year’s new scholars include freshmen who will be studying in Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and many other respected colleges and institutions.
RMCHSAAI fun runs are well-organized, thus you have nothing to bother about. From the security of the venue, the warm-up exercises led by the fitness instructors, the assistance from both fitness and medical practitioners, the hospitality of the administrators, and the distribution of running kits–they take care of all these things so you can just run your way to success. Yes, if you are one of those fitness achievers, you can actually get a cool medal and some nice bragging rights if you win the race. You can bring your family with you too! Last year, I was thrilled to ran and take note, be overtaken in the race by a ten-year-old kid, who ran fast enough to turn heads of all the other older runners.
So if you are looking for a cool and fun way to be both fit and fab for the upcoming days, join the Takbo Para sa Iskolar Fun Run 2013!
