It’s less than a month to go before Wanderland Music and Arts Festival officially makes a comeback, and with the full lineup for the two-day festival already out, one thing’s for sure: It’s returning with a bang.
And yes, the 2023 lineup is a millennial’s dream—from throwback artists, pop royalty, to today’s best indie alternative music makers. Speaking as a millennial, of course. Like many of you, this writer’s been a Wanderland regular since its first run in 2013 (that’s 10 years ago!), so we all know by now that the peeps behind the festival know a thing or two about bringing up all the good vibes and deep feels.
Here are some of the artists millennials will surely love seeing on the Wanderland stage:
Every music-obsessed millennial has had a Phoenix stage, right? You’ll be hearing the feel-good beats of this pop-alternative band from France in March, who is the main headliner of Wanderland 2023. We honestly can’t wait to dance to them again.
Wanderland will be Phoenix’s third visit to the Philippines following previous solo shows. As Wanderland shared, “We can only imagine what a spectacle it will be.” We so agree.
Carly Rae Jepsen
Fans of the Canadian pop artist will really really really really really like this addition to the lineup. Carly Rae Jepsen has been renowned as a modern-era pop genius, consistently putting out records with the kind of energy that simply ~sparkle~.
Imagine dancing to her good-vibe tracks at Wanderland, performed by the queen herself. You can’t miss that!
Any millennial who’s had an emo stage in college probably had Dashboard Confessional’s entire discography in their iPods (do Gen Z’s even know what that is?). Well, it’s time to relive those days as the American rock band brings their biggest hits to the Wanderland stage in March. We’re ready for them feels.
It was three decades ago when Rico Blanco shot to fame with his band Rivermaya, and even though the band is no longer, Blanco continues to be one of the most iconic artists in Filipino music. The singer-songwriter-music producer is set to perform at Wanderland, proudly showcasing the best of his music…and OPM.
The multi-instrumentalist and musical genius FKJ is returning to the Wanderland stage! Get ready to be mesmerized by his dreamy music and skillful techniques blending house, jazz, soul, and electronic. If FKJ’s music blows you away just by streaming, can you imagine what it can do, hearing it live? Goosebumps.
Applaud to Asian and local acts
And of course, some of the best acts from all over Asia will also be present at Wanderland. Catch Bangok-based duo HYBS, whose music touches on R&B and laidback pop influences. They are joined by other Asian acts Sunset Rollercoaster, Balming Tiger, George, and Leo Wang. Also joining the roster is iconic K-pop rapper Kim Ji-Won of K-pop group iKON, better known by his stage name Bobby.
Representing the Philippines are Ylona Garcia, whose rise to fame in the international scene will make any Pinoy fan proud. There’s also Flu, a four-piece vintage soul and funk band, who will surely get the disco dance party started at Wanderland.
The Ridleys also joins the lineup, an alternative-folk band set to serenade Wanderers with their music’s candid stories and smooth melodies. They join previously announced homegrown artists No Rome, Blaster, August Wahh, and The Sundown.
((( O ))) was also recently added to the lineup, officially completing the Wanderland 2023 musical lineup. ((( O ))) will be bringing her soulful energy to the festival. As Wanderland described it, “It’s a form of art that we’ve never really seen before.”
The art and the artists
Aside from the music lineup, Wanderland also continues to champion art with their Wanderartists: Alaga, Amiel Rivera, Faith De Leos, and Wika Nadera, who will all be performing live art at the festival.
Wanderland shared, “It has always been tradition to have the Wanderartists’ creations bring life, color, and creativity to the festival grounds, so we’re keen to see what kind of a game-changing visual spectacle they’ll come up with this year.”
Wanderland Music and Arts Festival will be returning on March 4 and 5, 2023 at the Filinvest City Events Grounds, Alabang.
