Get ready to relive your pop-punk anthems and emo phase! Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan are joining forces for a new song!
In a social media post, the “Sk8er Boi” hitmaker announced that she is set to release a new track titled “Young and Dumb” with Simple Plan, produced by John Feldmann.

Avril revealed that the upcoming track will coincide with the extension of her “Greatest Hits Tour.” As the song celebrates their long-standing friendship and strong bond, she reminisced about Simple Plan joining her on previous tours in 2003 and 2024.
“What makes it even more meaningful is getting to share this experience with my friends, Simple Plan. It’s really a full circle moment because not only did they tour with me last year on the Greatest Hits tour but we also toured together in 2003 on my first arena tour, when I was 18 and touring my first album ‘Let Go’. We were so young, all from small towns in Canada and put our first albums out at the same time. We became friends right away,” she expressed.
The singer-songwriter added that they wanted “Young and Dumb” to capture the nostalgic feelings from the time when they were just starting out as artists and chasing their dreams.
“We wanted our fans to know that in our hearts, we’re still the same kids we were back then and that our love for music has never changed,” she continued.
“This song is about our friendship and how music has kept us connected all these years. The song is about feeling nostalgic, while loving where you are right now.”

Avril dedicated the track to her fans, especially those who’ve stuck with her for over two decades.
“This song is dedicated to you guys. Our fans who’ve been with us for 20+ years. To everyone who keeps coming to shows. To everyone who’s ready to wake up the punk rock kid that’s still inside you, ready to live your best life and sing your heart out,” she concluded.
“Young and Dumb” is set to drop on May 9, and we’re excited to jam out to it!
