This year’s theme “Redefining Diplomacy: Breaking Barriers and Unfolding Narratives of Diplomatic Life” focuses on the expansion of diplomacy beyond its formal definition. Specifically, Diplomatic Socials Night seeks to highlight the narratives of women, the youth, and non-traditional diplomats who broke barriers and ushered unconventional approaches towards diplomacy.

The main event features 3 keynote speeches. Former DFA Secretary Delia Domingo-Albert will deliver a speech on women in diplomacy and their triumphs in a male-dominated field. Next, sharing her experience as a United Nations Youth Assembly Ambassador, Ms. Danielle Nakpil will deliver a speech on the inclusion of the youth in diplomacy and global governance. This will be followed by a speech by Dr. Jovino Miroy spotlighting the role of emerging actors such as journalists, OFWs, families of diplomats, and academics who are now integral to the ever-expanding field of non-traditional diplomacy. The speeches will be followed by a question-and-answer session.

The main event will also feature musical performances by singer-songwriter Mr. Joey Ayala and theater icon Mr. Audie Gemora.

After the main event, participants will be divided into 3 breakout rooms to take part in moderated discussions with the keynote speakers and other VIPs. Talks on women in diplomacy will be led by former DFA Secretary Delia Domingo-Albert, Ambassador Cleofe Maria Natividad, and Ambassador Ma. Corazon Yap-Bahjin. Youth in diplomacy will be covered by Ms. Danielle Nakpil, Ms. Fatima Pauline Malate, and Ms. Abigail Kitma. Finally, Dr. Jovino Miroy, Dr. Stephanie Beatriz Valera, and Ms. Carolyn Hamilton-Malasig will discuss non-traditional diplomacy. The breakout rooms are exclusive to Premium Pass holders.

Diplomatic Socials Night is the culminating event of the Foreign Service Series, APAIR’s flagship organizational project.
