ARTism: Unleash the Artist in You!
The Mu Sigma Phi Sorority of the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine proudly presents ARTism: Unleash the artist in you.
ARTism is a whole-day art exposition with interactive sessions which aims to promote awareness on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by giving them, along with the event participants, a venue for self-empowerment and self-expression through art and music. The event will feature an art exhibit, a “Paint and Sip” activity and talks on ASD awareness. The exhibit will display artworks created by special education (SPED) children from Sta. Belina Learning Center. These artworks will be mass-produced on different items like canvass bags, tumblers, and wallets as merchandise.
In the “Paint and Sip” activity, participants will paint on a small canvass while snacks and refreshments are served. The canvass paintings will be fused together to create a mural reflecting the event’s cause. Aside from these, a mini-concert by the children accompanied by performers is set to play in the background so that the participants and exhibit viewers can simultaneously enjoy live music. Talks on ASD will also be presented by professionals and well-known personalities.
ARTism will be held on the 1st of March 2014 at the SM San Lazaro Atrium, from 10 am to 7:30 pm. Proceeds from ticket and merchandise sales will go to the SPED school and the Rehabilitation Ward of the Developmental Pediatrics Department of the Philippine General Hospital.
