Are Willie Revillame and “Wowowin” Returning to Television?

Willie Revillame seems to be hinting at a comeback to television after he released a music video on the official Facebook and Youtube pages of “Wowowin,” which aired its last episode on February after his contract with GMA Network ended on February 15.

Part of the lyrics of the song, composed by award-winning musician Vehnee Saturno and performed by Willie himself, are as follows:

Matagal-tagal na rin tayong hindi nagkikita / Palakpakan at hiyawan ay nami-miss ko na / Mga yakap ninyo ay nais nang muling madama / Ako’y nasasabik kayo ay makasama.

Willie also sings in the chorus: “Babalik ako, ligaya na sa puso ang mapasaya kayo / Babalik muli upang magsama-sama tayo.”

Based on these words, it’s possible that Willie is working on airing “Wowowin” once more but it’s unknown which channel it will be.

Fans of Willie and his show flooded the comments section of the video to express support for the TV host.

Since the release of this song, reports have come out alleging that Willie approached brothers Jonjon and Bullet Jalosjos of TAPE, Inc. for reasons that are unclear. Cristy Fermin in her talk show “Cristy Ferminute” claimed that Willie was asked to guest on “Eat Bulaga” but turned it down. Ogie Diaz, however, said that the meeting was actually about bringing “Wowowin” back on GMA Network for an hour after the noontime show, which will then see a reduced airing time (1.5 hours for “Eat Bulaga” and 1 hour for “Wowowin”).

These rumors have yet to be confirmed or denied by Willie.
