The Outstanding Hospitality
“Nahm jai” or “water from the heart” — this is what they call a traditional Thai trait that has made Thailand known around the world for its hospitality. Dating back to hundreds of years ago, it has been a custom of the Thai to leave a jar of water outside their homes for any weary traveler who would pass by to slake their thirst. The symbol also served as an open invite to anyone who would wish to stay. This incredible practice, though perhaps rarely surviving in the modern days, has transformed and been carried on in many new ways, nonetheless. This is why perhaps, to date, Bangkok is one of the world’s most visited cities, and Thailand being the major hub of tourism in Asia.
