Starting March 19, Thursday, all entry points to Davao region will be closed. This comes after President Duterte declares a State of Public Health Emergency in the country.
(Memo from facebook.com/davaocitygov)
Last March 17, the City Government of Davao ordered the suspension of all domestic and international air travel to and from Davao City at the Davao International Airport. This suspension will be for 14 days or when the Infectious Disease Specialists deem it satisfactory to lift the prohibition.
The City Government also posts on Facebook that, “Everyone can leave Region XI anytime but cannot come back beginning 00:01H Thursday, 19 March 2020 and for the next 14 days.”
The statement also said that this suspension is to enforce more stringent measures to prevent the virus from affecting Dabawenyos. As of March 18, 2020, the COVID-19 virus has affected at least 187 people in the country. The Philippines is now also put under a State of Calamity due to the said crisis.
