Alexa Ilacad Delivers a Superb Performance As Chappell Roan On “Your Face Sounds Familiar”

Your Face Sounds Familiar (YFSF) Season 4 kicked off its premiere weekend with a bang, and we have Alexa Ilacad to thank for that.

On October 4, 2025, the “Gen-Z Total Performer” opened the weekly musical competition as Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, Chappell Roan, and needless to say, she knocked it out of the park.

Alexa was already well-acquainted with Chappell Roan’s music, as a long-time fan who covered her songs in the past. But to become the spitting image of Chappell, “your favorite artist’s favorite artist,” Alexa thoroughly studied and practiced her signature vocals, adlibs, and stage presence under the guidance of YFSF’s mentors, Nyoy Volante and Klarisse de Guzman. The opportunity to transform into a singer she admired only came once in a lifetime, and Alexa made every moment count.

The nation has spoken: it’s about time we give Alexa her flowers. Here’s how her spot-on rendition of “Pink Pony Club” single-handedly had netizens raving over her show-stopping talent.

Alexa couldn’t have gotten a better icon to impersonate. The pressure was on for her, but it all disappeared like magic as soon as she went onstage and welcomed the audience into her “pink pony world.”

Chappell fans immediately recognized how Alexa’s performance drew inspiration from the American pop star’s debut stage at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Alexa understood the assignment, and sure enough, the whole internet agreed. She looked and sounded almost identical to Chappell, probably enough to fool others into thinking that Chappell herself had finally visited the Philippines.

Alexa’s exceptional vocals and commitment to her icon have earned her over three million views across social media. She’s a viral queen for all the right reasons, and it’s only her first performance on YFSF. If she already did this well on the new season’s pilot episode, who knows what the following weeks will bring?

Always Up for a Challenge

Alexa knew from the get-go that living up to her YFSF title of “Gen-Z Total Performer” was no easy feat. Despite her extensive background in acting, theatre, hosting, singing, and songwriting, she still had a lot to prove to her fans and Ka-Familiars alike. She bravely joined the competition even when some netizens claimed that she didn’t deserve her moniker.

It takes serious guts and discipline to impersonate various music superstars every week, complete with live vocals and choreography. But Alexa’s “Pink Pony Club” number is just one of her many achievements that prove she was born to be onstage—more so on YFSF, a gathering of talented and established Filipino stars.

Tens Across the Board

The YFSF premiere continued to be a wonderful night for Alexa as her Chappell Roan impersonation received high praise from the show’s renowned jury. Sharon Cuneta commended her confidence, Ogie Alcasid called her performance a “revelation,” and Gary Valenciano applauded her eagerness to grow throughout the competition.

The judges said their piece, and so did Alexas industry friends. Her Instagram comment section has been flooded with compliments ever since her performance aired. Even BINI members Mikha and Aiah thought she nailed it,” and frankly, they’re not wrong.

Last weekend was brimming with other fantastic numbers from the YFSF cast, including Jason Dy as Erik Santos, BGYOs Akira Morishita as BTSJungkook, Dia Maté as Tyla, and Tawag ng Tanghalan Duets winning pair, JM Dela Cerna and Marielle Montellano, as Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion.

Theres still so much to look forward to on YFSF, including the remaining three premiere impersonations by Pepe Herrera, Jarlo Base, and Rufa Mae Quinto. Every Kapamilya’s go-to weekend show is truly back and better than ever, and the competition is just getting started.
