Like the true global phenomenon they are, AlDub was just featured in a BBC News article!
The international news company British Broadcasting Company, more known as the BBC, just wrote about the success of AlDub, with the headline for the article stating: “AlDub: A social media phenomenon about love and lip synching”. Sounds pretty much spot on!
The BBC news article discussed the Philippine loveteam and how it has managed to break global records– despite the fact that few people outside the Philippines have heard of them.
The #AlDubEBTamangPanahon event drew more than 41 million tweets, breaking the previous Twitter record held by Brazil’s 2014 FIFA World Cup defeat to Germany!
BBC also noted that Maine Mendoza has become the third fastest-growing celebrity on Twitter, next only to Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.
BBC presenter Rico Hizon noted that AlDub’s key to popularity was their ability to connect with people as “they appear very down-to-earth”.
The world is definitely paying attention to everyone’s favorite love team!!
