Beloved Canadian voice actor Peter Cullen has passed away. He was 85.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Peter passed away at his Los Angeles home.
“[Peter] passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family — and held in the hearts of his many friends and countless fans worldwide,” his family said in an official statement.
It added: “His family asks that you honor his remarkable legacy by serving your communities and leading others with compassion, integrity and loyalty and always remember ‘be strong enough to be gentle.’”
The Canadian voice actor had a career spanning over six decades in television, film, and video games. He voiced several popular characters, including Eeyore in the “Winnie the Pooh” franchise, Monterey Jack in “Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers,” and Thaedus in “Invincible,” among others.
He also voiced the iconic Optimus Prime in the original “Transformers” animated series in 1980 before returning to the same role in 2007.
In 2023, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
